A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir early Monday, with its epicenter in Budgam district, briefly triggering panic across parts of the Valley.

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir early Monday morning, with its epicenter in Budgam district, officials said.
The tremor occurred at 5:35 a.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to preliminary data from the German Research Centre for Geosciences. The epicenter was located at 33.9 degrees north latitude and 74.76 degrees east longitude.
The quake was felt across Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Shopian and nearby areas, prompting residents in several localities to rush out of their homes. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
