The Nagaland Climate Action Forum 2024, themed ‘From Heat to Action: Rethinking Urban Resilience in Dimapur,’ will be held on January 21, aimed at addressing growing climate challenges facing the state’s commercial hub.

Addressing a press conference, Dimapur Municipal Council CEO Thungchangbemo Tungoe said the forum marks a shift towards action-oriented engagement on urban climate risks.

He said rising temperatures, urban flooding, infrastructure stress and public health concerns have made climate resilience planning an urgent priority.

He said, the forum will bring together policymakers, urban planners, climate experts, civil society, and community stakeholders on a common platform to deliberate, and share evidence-based insights, and collectively chart practical pathways for building a climate-resilient Dimapur.

The forum is supported by Earth Alliance Nagaland, DMC and the district administration.

Nagaland Youth Consortium Policy Analyst Boka K. Rochill said it will release a Working White Paper on urban heat stress in Dimapur, and host panel discussions on community resilience, urban planning and greening.
