Nagaland is gearing up to host the much-anticipated National Red Run 3.0 on October 30, an event aimed at promoting awareness on HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and the importance of healthy living.

Organised by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympics Association and the Nagaland Athletics Association, the run will flag off from the Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima at 5:30 AM.

Addressing media persons in Chümoukedima today, Project Director of NSACS, Dr. Ahu Sekhose informed that the event is supported by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Dr. Sekhose said the Red Run 3.0 is a flagship initiative designed to raise awareness on HIV and STIs, promote active lifestyles, and encourage collective action for health and well-being.

The 10 km Competitive Category will feature state-level champions from 35 States and Union Territories, with each represented by two boys and two girls.

Meanwhile, the Open (General) Category, also known as the Solidarity Run, will cover a 2 km route and is expected to draw about 700 participants—including students, youth organisations, churches, government departments, NGOs, and community groups.

The National Red Run was conceptualised in 2023 by NACO as part of its ongoing efforts to create greater awareness and solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The first two editions of the event were hosted by the state of Goa in 2023 and 2024.
