Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Maki turns into a killing machine, genocide of the Zenin clan
After the third episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, which was too intricate to grasp in terms of its backdrop, the fourth episode is worth the intricacy. MAPPA Studios is raising the bar day by day. This episode has brought a whole new level of excitement for JJK fans all over the world, and the internet is already flooded with the appreciation and praise that it deserves.
Preparations for the Culling Game begin….
Protagonist Itadori Yuji and his friends speak with Tengen about Kenjaku’s evil goals and their plans for the Culling Game. Tengen-sama makes them understand the nitty-gritty of the Culling Game and their plan of action. The sorcerers intend to achieve three major goals:
Enter the colonies to gain 100 points
Add a new rule to save Fushiguro Megumi’s sister
Find “The Angel” in order to unseal “Satoru Gojo”
The group divides the tasks. Maki is assigned to return to the Zenin clan estate. Her goal is to retrieve powerful cursed tools from the family’s “forbidden vault” to arm the group for the Culling Game. She sets off for the Zenin estate, and the “Perfect Preparation” begins.
Maki the Destroyer….
Maki Zenin, whom her clan has rejected, comes to break into the forbidden vault to marshal all the powerful cursed tools for the perfect preparation of the Culling Game.
Maki enters the Zenin estate and confronts her cousin Naoya Zenin, who treats her in the most egregious manner. However, her unwavering determination goes beyond all this, and she strides her way toward the forbidden vault.
On the way, her mother tries to stop her, but her efforts go in vain. Little does Maki know that her father, Ogi Zenin, is plotting against her. Maki opens the gate of the forbidden vault and finds her twin sister lying at the feet of her father. Mai is badly hurt and can hardly breathe, yet she calls Maki an idiot for falling into the plot.
Ogi Zenin has planned to kill his daughters and Megumi to pacify the clan’s higher-ups. He uses his innate technique, “Blazing Courage,” and slashes through Maki’s heart. He then drags Maki and Mai into a pit filled with cursed spirits and leaves them to die.
Mai knew this would happen and sacrifices herself, breaking Maki’s “Heavenly Restriction” and making her a superhuman physical powerhouse on par with Toji. Before bidding goodbye to Maki, Mai asks her to “destroy everything.”
Tormented by the circumstances, Maki goes berserk. She first slices her father’s forehead and then bathes the whole estate in blood. Intimidated by Maki’s behavior, all the higher-ups join the bloodbath but end up getting sliced by Maki. She then confronts Naoya Zenin.
Naoya Zenin, with all his might and supersonic speed, attacks Maki. However, Maki confronts Naoya face to face and punches him so hard that it decimates the inner bones of Naoya’s face.
Maki then confronts her mother and delivers a sword blow. Maki’s mother lies on her deathbed, and Naoya crawls away to save his life. In the meantime, he also curses Maki.
Maki’s mother, who loved her daughters but couldn’t show it, gathers courage at the verge of her life and kills Naoya with a knife blow to his back, and then rests in peace.
The whole scenario gives a sense of déjà vu, similar to when Itachi Uchiha commits the Uchiha clan genocide in Naruto.
