Amarnath Yatra picks up pace again; 3.91 lakh pilgrims have visited Baba Barfani so far.

The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for six days due to adverse weather conditions that had disrupted the pilgrimage and led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
The Yatra had been temporarily halted on July 19 following incessant rainfall, landslides, mudslides and unsafe travel conditions along the highway.
Following a significant improvement in weather conditions and the restoration of traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, authorities allowed the pilgrimage to resume.
A fresh batch of pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu early Saturday morning under tight security arrangements.
The 18th batch, comprising 6,269 pilgrims travelling in 223 vehicles, crossed Udhampur safely and is proceeding towards the Baltal base camp, from where the yatris will undertake their onward journey to the holy cave shrine.
Officials said no convoy was permitted to travel via the traditional Pahalgam route and only the Baltal-bound convoy was allowed to proceed towards Kashmir.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg talking to Akashvani News Srinagar said that Shri Amarnath Yatra has been resumed following an improvement in weather conditions. He further informed that so far, over 3.91 lakh pilgrims have successfully performed darshan at the Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.
