Two Arrested in Guwahati for Ivory Smuggling; Three Elephant Tusks Seized

The Forest Department has arrested two persons allegedly involved in the smuggling of elephant tusks during an operation conducted in Guwahati based on secret information.

A team from the Khanamukh Beat Forest Office under the Kamrup East Forest Division carried out the operation and chased down the suspected smugglers before apprehending them from Dharapur, Guwahati.

During the operation, the forest officials recovered three elephant tusks and a scooter from the possession of the accused.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dipjyoti Kalita and Subhash Deka. Further investigation into the case is underway.
