Massive Fire Erupts in Karfali Mohalla Srinagar,Multiple Houses Gutted

Srinagar: A massive fire brokeout in the densely populated Karfali Mohalla area of Srinagar at around 2:00 AM past midnight, causing extensive damage to several residential properties. Panic gripped the locality as the flames rapidly engulfed multiple structures, forcing residents to rush out of their homes in the dark of night. According to eye witnesses and local residents, the blaze is believed to have originated in a house where ironing of BD clothes was being carried out. Within minutes, the fire spread swiftly to adjoining buildings due to the close proximity of houses, leaving nearly 8 to 10 residential structures partially or completely damaged. Among the most affected is the house of Mr. Altaf Ahmed Kuchey, son of Ghulam Mohammed Kuchey, which was entirely gutted in the incident. The family, engaged in the Pashmina trade, suffered major losses as valuable Pashmina stock and other goods worth crores were destroyed. Additionally, jewellery worth several lakhs was also lost in the fire, as preparations were underway for the weddings of Mr. Altaf and his sister. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties or injuries were reported till thefiling of this report. Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded swiftly and managed to bring the fire under control after continuous efforts, preventing it from spreading further to other residential structures.
