Lionel Messi has become only the second player in history to reach 900 top-level career goals after finding the net in Inter Miami’s match against Nashville SC.
The Argentina international achieved the milestone just seven minutes into the game at Geodis Park during the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup last-16 tie.
Since joining Inter Miami in June 2023, the 38-year-old forward has scored 81 goals in 92 appearances, playing a key role in helping the club secure both the League Cup and the MLS Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently has 965 career goals, has stated his ambition to surpass the 1,000-goal mark before retiring. Messi reached the 900-goal milestone in 1,142 matches, while Ronaldo took 1,236 games to achieve the same feat.
